Jay Edward VanDerLinden, 58, of Sevierville, Tennessee, formerly of Westminster, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at home, after a very short battle with lung cancer.

Born in Rockville, he was the son of Roy E. and Clara E. VanDerLinden, of Hanover, Pennsylvania.

He was a 1973 graduate of Robert E. Perry High School in Rockville. As an individual who enjoyed being outdoors, he was the inventor of Scent Shooter and Chum Shooter. He liked spending time walking in the woods with his dog, Max.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a friend, Jackie Hoffman, of Sevierville; sons Ryan VanDerLinden, of Mount Airy, and Kevin VanDerLinden, of Towson; brother and wife Gerry and Jody VanDerLinden, of Woodsboro; sister and husband Janet and Donnie Hughes, of Uniontown; a niece, Sara VanDerLinden, of Woodsboro; and a nephew, Aaron VanDerLinden, of Madison, Wisconsin.

Internment will be private. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
