Jean Lucille Lawyer, 81, of Westminster passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Westminster. Born April 23, 1934 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Denton and Ruthanna Rodkey Wantz. She was the loving wife of Philip R. Lawyer, her husband of 57 years. She was a 1956 graduate of Western Maryland College. She worked for Carroll County Public Schools as a Home Economics teacher and retired after 25 years. She was a lifetime member of Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ and a member of the Maryland State Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs. Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter and son-in-law Michele and Scott Gribben of Manchester; daughter-in-law Suzie Lawyer of Finksburg; brother and sister-in-law James and Joan Wantz of Westminster and grandchildren, Amy Gribben Dibble, David Gribben, Josh, Mayson, Max, Katie, Chloe and Isabella Lawyer. She was predeceased by her son, Dr. Kevin Lawyer who died in 2008. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at PRITTS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ, Westminster. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ, 2950 Old Taneytown Rd., Westminster, MD 21158.
