Jean Lois Round Dickey, 94 of Reddick, FL and Sykesville, MD, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her home in Reddick, FL. Born March 26, 1921 in Cleveland, OH, and raised in Garfield Heights, OH, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Louis Round and the late Katherine Theresa Lockwood Round. She was the wife of the late James William Calhoun Dickey who died in 1982. Jean was a 1939 graduate of Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, OH. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1943. She married Jim in 1946 in Orlando, FL and moved to Chevy Chase, MD. They raised their children in Miami Beach, FL, then moved to Washington, DC before moving to her home in Sykesville, MD, the family farm that Jim had bought in 1939. Jean had served as the President of the Salvation Army Auxiliary in Washington, DC. She was also a member of the Capital Womens Speaker Club, Capital Hill Club, Congressional Country Club, and the Washington Club. Jean loved animals and was never without a dog. She also enjoyed gardening, nature, ballet, music and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are her children James Round Calhoun Dickey and his wife Kathleen, Jeannine Lockwood Dickey Gallant and her husband Roy Gallant, Jennifer Edgerly Dickey Johnson and her husband Walter "Rusty", Jocelyn Jennings Dickey McKathan and her husband Luke McKathan, and Jonathan Raymond Chapman Dickey and his wife Alison, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Ellicott City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Auxiliary in Washington, DC, Great Dogs Rescue New England in Andover, Massachusetts, or to House With A Heart in Gaithersburg, MD.
