Jeannette Borden Vasbinder, age 97, formerly of Painesville, Ohio, died Monday, December 25, 2017 at Northwest Hospital Center. Born January 11, 1920 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Alice Studley Nute. She was the wife of the late George H. Vasbinder who predeceased her in 2006. Jeannette lived a full and rich life loved by her family and friends. Beginning her professional life as a secretary during WWII at Reynold Aluminum in Louisville, KY, she later went on to raise her three children in Painesville, OH. She returned to work as a legal secretary in OH. Then travelled the US with her husband in their retirement. She came out of retirement to work in childcare earning the name "Nanny" which was used by all 12 great-grandchildren. Jeannette enjoyed bird watching, crosswords, and bingo. She loved to travel, finally going on her first cruise at age 93. She was connected to her whole family communicating on her iPad and being the foundation of the Nute family reunions. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren helped her pass on the family history and surprise them with her jokes. Surviving are two sons, George C. Vasbinder and wife Betty of Goshen, IN, Donald J. Vasbinder and wife Belle and daughter JoEllen Vasbinder and life partner Philip Turkington, 4 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Nute II, and Donald Nute, two sisters Barbara Zimmerman and Margie Nute and a grandson Kurt Vasbinder. A memorial service will be held on January 13, 2017 at 11:00am at Springfield Presbyterian Church, 7300 Spout Hill Rd., Sykesville, MD. Her ashes will be buried next to her husband at Perry Cemetery, Perry, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Presbyterian Church, 7300 Spout Hill Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784.
