Jeffrey Allan Landy, 65, of Henderson Harbor, New York, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 9, 2017, after many months of courageously battling cancer. Born May 27, 1952, he was the son of the late William C. and Elizabeth (Magin) Landy. He was the husband of Julie (Ludwig) Landy. Jeff grew up in Westminster, Md. and graduated from Westminster High School, Class of 1970. He attended Frederick Community College, worked at Heagy's Sport Shop in Westminster, Koontz Concrete in New Windsor, and for the Carroll County Board of Education at North Carroll High School and New Windsor Middle School. He was most recently employed with Jefferson Community College in Watertown, N.Y. before his retirement in 2014. Jeff was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster and the Dug Hill Rod and Gun Club, also in Westminster. He was most recently a member of the Henderson Fish and Game Club. Jeff was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed taking his friends fishing in all seasons. He especially liked fishing for salmon, pike, lake trout, and brown trout. Over his lifetime, Jeff harvested more than 100 whitetail bucks. He also enjoyed hunting bear, turkey, and small game. Jeff loved to sit by the campfire sipping a beverage with friends or going two-stepping with his wife. Jeff is survived by his wife Julie and his step-son Kellen Christopher Woods of Henderson Harbor; his brother William R. Landy and wife Barbara of Linwood, Md.; nephews Ryan C. Landy and wife Suzanne of Urbana, Md.; and Michael W. Landy of Linwood; and two great-nieces Ava J. and Emma E. Landy of Urbana. Jeff is also survived by many close friends. Everyone who loved him will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll Street, Westminster, Md. with Pastor Kevin Clementson officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to North Country Cremation Service, Chaumont, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeff's name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, N.Y. 13601, or to Upstate Cancer Center, 750 E. Adams St., Syracuse, N.Y. 13210.
