Jeffrey Lynn Barnes, 68, of Winfield, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at home after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born March 25, 1944, in Baltimore, he was the son of Bernice Inez Shipley Barnes and the late Augustus "Gus" Barnes. He was the husband of Sylvia Ann Zepp Barnes, his wife of 48 years.
He was the owner/dealer principle of Jeff Barnes Chevrolet. He was a member of the Westminster Elks. His hobbies included classic cars, tractors and farming.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are sons Jeffrey Scott Barnes and fiancee Joann Marchak, of Mount Airy, and Bryan Matthew and wife Amy Barnes of Westminster; daughter and companion Stephanie Ann Barnes and Glenn Elliott, of Finksburg; brother and sister-in-law John and Gloria Barnes, of Westminster; and grandchildren Josh, Brittany, Chelsey, Gabrielle, Kyle, Allie, Hunter and Lane.
The family will receive friends from noon to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Shamer, of Zion United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment to follow in Zion UMC Cemetery in Shipley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or Zion UMC, 2716 Old Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
