Jesse Albert Myers, 84, of Westminster, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Westminster, from Parkinson's complications.

Born April 3, 1929, in Eldersburg, he was the son of the late Vandever and Louise Myers. He was the husband of Ruth Fritz Myers, his wife of 60 years, whom he married Nov. 1, 1952.

He graduated in 1950 from Western Maryland College, now known as McDaniel College.

He taught mathematics at several Carroll and Baltimore County high schools in the 1950s and then taught for more than 30 years at Catonsville Community College. In 1965 he received a master's degree from Rutgers University. He was a professor and chair of the mathematics department at the community college for many years and was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus after retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist church in Eldersburg. He enjoyed restoring the 1880 farmhouse where he raised sheep, planted trees including a small orchard, and gardened.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law Jeffrey H. and Gail Myers, of Timonium, and Paul R. and Mary Ann Myers, of Great Falls, Va.; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Clyde Sterner, of Hanover, Pa.; and grandchildren Sarah and Jacob Sterner, Nicholas, Lucas, Rachel and Kathryn Myers.

He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Rash.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
