Jimmye Lorraine Byrd, 79, of Westminster, formerly of Willingboro, N.J., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center.

Born Dec. 14, 1932, in Union, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John and Elmira Sims Browning. She was the wife of William J. Byrd, who died July 30, 2008.

She was a graduate of Sims High School in Union, S.C. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Willingboro, N.J.

She enjoyed cooking for the family, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed dressing her best, watching wrestling and taking care of her family, and enjoyed shopping and socializing with friends. She was also proud of her Christian faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon L. Byrd, of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law Eric and Leslie Byrd, of Westminster; sisters Janie Johnson and Ezra Gist, both of Jersey City, N.J.; a brother, Walter Mack Browning, of Union, S.C.; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings Juanita Greer, Mary, Sarah and Azalee Rice, Ruth Gilliam and Joseph, Martha and L.J. Browning.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11:30 a.m. Monday at at the Krug Chapel of Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Garrison Forest.
