Joan Elaine Nickles, 80, of Manchester, passed Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at her granddaughter's residence in Union Bridge. Born Oct. 16, 1934 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Gladys Haley Kelley and Clarence Williams. She was the wife of the late Walter R. Nickles. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, flea markets, yard sales, cross word and Sudoku puzzles and word searches. She is survived by daughters Lori Hill Carey and husband Patrick of Westminster, Brenda Collins of Knoxville, MD, and a son Wayne Nickles of Hanover, PA, grandchildren Julie Wintsch and husband Phil, Tara Collins, Wayne Nickles, Jr. and Tim Smith, great-grandchildren Kayla and Austin Wintsch, Rianna Nickles and Lynken and Quinn Woodyard, step-mother Nannie Ryan of New Oxford, PA, sister Susan Murphy and husband Mike of Westminster, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Herb and Linda Nickles and Eveyln Hale. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Manchester Baptist Church Cemetery.
