JoAnne D. Fischer, age 65, of Sykesville passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Seasons Hospice at Sinai Hospital. Born January 6, 1952, in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of the late Henry Junior Heffler and Hattie Victoria Woodfin Heffler. She was the loving wife of over 45 years to C. Kenneth Fischer. JoAnne had served as a Nursery School Teacher and Assistant Director for Messiah Lutheran Nursery Program for 30 years. She enjoyed making crafts and especially spending time and taking trips with her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband are son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth B. and Heather L. Fischer of Westminster; brother, Stephen Heffler of Marriottsville; sisters, Nancy Cross and Donna Moore both of Taneytown and grandchildren, Taylor Grace Fischer, Riley Elizabeth Fischer and Avery Brooke Fischer. JoAnne is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Sterling Wayne Heffler and Judith Fendlay. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 27, 2016 from 10am to 1pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a celebration of life service will immediately follow at 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Messiah Lutheran Nursery Program for a scholarship to be established in her memory.
