Joanne F. Murphy was born in 1937, the third daughter of loving parents, John F. Murphy and Mabel O'Brien Murphy. Through out her life she was challenged and always persevered. She never said "I can't" even though the odds were tough. She survived polio at the age of 16 and overcame all the difficulties associated with her paralysis. She loved well and long. Even with her interupted education, she achieved great heights in her career. Her work history made evident her dedication, commitment and loyalty to those who were fortunate to employ her. She had been CFO of a large insurance company, briefly owned her own insurance agency, and finally was Vice President and Comptroller of a national corporation with two foreign subsidiaries. Dedicated, trustworthy and bright were just a few of her attributes. She loved people and had many long time friends whom she adored and they too were loyal to her. She was blessed with loving, adoring grandchildren whom she held in the highest regard. She had a quick smile and infectious laugh. She smiled through all the pain, never complained, and was quick to lend a hand to help someone who needed it. She married and had three wonderful children Karen Lynn Murphy and her spouse Therese Marie Murphy of Rehobeth Beach, DE, Kirk John Schutz of Crumpton, and Kristopher Moore Schutz and his spouse Jackie of Catonsville, grandchildren Andrew and Jamie Murphy, Megan and Katie Schmier, Annabel Fay Schutz, and Sophia Lynn Schutz, and great grandchild Jackson Pfeffer. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville with Rev. Mark Waddell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1pm until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
