Joseph Alan Henry, 57, of Taneytown, Maryland died Monday, June 15, 2015 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Born May 7, 1958 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late JoAnn (Harley) Henry, who lived in Martinsburg, WV, and the late Bernard Henry, who lived in Inwood, WV. Joe was the self-employed owner and operator of two businesses, Henry Contracting and Prizm Lighting and Sound, both in Taneytown. He loved playing the guitar and performing in his rock 'n roll band, Problem Child. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, building things, boating, crabbing, and racing remote control cars. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, of whom he was very proud. He was a member of the Littlestown Eagles and the McSherrystown Moose Lodge. Surviving are sons, Thomas "Nate" Shawver and fiancée Samantha Geisinger of Taneytown, and Tyler Henry of Hanover, PA; daughter, Sommer Henry of Taneytown; sister, Tammy Brunk and husband Brian of Taneytown; brother, Michael Henry and partner Cathy Welsh of Hanover, PA; and granddaughter, Kinsley Cree Shawver. He is also remembered by nephew, Scott Brunk and fiancée Chrissy Gobrecht of Hanover, PA; niece, Stacey Brunk, of Taneytown; partner, Brenda Long Stull of Taneytown; and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Pastor Donald Frazier officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
