John C. Haynes, 70, formerly of Hampstead, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Decator General Hospital in Decator, Ala., after a year-long battle with cancer.

Born Dec. 9, 1941, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Carlton and Alice Hultin Haynes. He was husband of Jane L. Haynes, who died June 30, 2012.

He worked at the U.S. Post Office in Baltimore for 28 years. After retirement, he drove a school bus for 17 years for Rills & Schaefer.

He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, serving on many committees, helping with dinners, and going on mission trips.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Elaine R. and John Geisler, of Manchester, Amy C. Haynes-Martin and Steve Martin, of Hartselle, Ala., and Jenny R. and Rick Johnson, of Hampstead; and grandchildren Austin Haynes, Madison Geisler, Bror Johnson, Lillian Johnson, Rebecca Bowers and Amanda Martin.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John U.M. Church in Hampstead, with the Revs. John and Melissa Rudolph officiating. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
