John "Jack" Henry Steinmetz, 90, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Aug. 27, 1922, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Francis Steinmetz and Charlotte Gerold Steinmetz. He was married to Lucy Steinmetz, his wife of 60 years.

He served as a pilot in World War II and was primarily stationed in Burma. After the war, he began a long career as a sales representative for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company while continuing to fly for the Maryland Air National Guard for 17 years.

During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, playing golf, traveling and gardening.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Beth Warren and grandson Zachary Warren, both of Missoula, Mont.

Services and interment are private. Arrangements are being handled by the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services in Westminster.
