John Holbrook Wilson Sr., 66, of Hampstead, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born July 4, 1947, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Archibald and Bernice Holbrook Wilson. He was the husband of Karen Lee McConkey Wilson, his wife of 34 years.

He was a graduate of Milford Mill High School. Prior to retirement, he had served as a deputy sheriff for the Baltimore County Sheriff's Office for 27 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, the Antique Automobile Club of America and the B & O Railroad Museum, where he was also a volunteer staffer. He enjoyed collecting railroad police patches from around the world, Civil War living history and spending time with his dog, Danny.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his son, John H. Wilson Jr., of Hampstead.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
