John Jacobs Wolf, age 73, of Union Bridge, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 3, 1943 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Hobart D. Wolf and Katherine Hermann Wolf. Mr. Wolf was a 1961 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. In 1962 he joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War on a torpedo ship. He was formerly employed with Rocky Ridge Brick Co., Westminster Shoe, Milt Amey's cabinet shop, and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., where he was the plant manager. He was of the Episcopalian faith. He was a life member of VFW Post 8806, Union Bridge and American Legion Post 31, Westminster; and a member of Littlestown Eagles #2226. He remained very active with these groups and enjoyed frying chicken for their dinners, picnics, etc., as well as for the VFW softball teams and the Union Bridge carnival. At one time he was a member of the Union Bridge Fire Police. He enjoyed playing golf, dancing, watching baseball and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He was a big supporter of the Wounded Warriors and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Surviving are his spouse, Judy Wetzel Wolf and companion Chris Manning of Union Bridge; two sons, Troy S. Wolf of Taneytown, Tab M. Wolf and wife, Crystal of Union Bridge; two daughters, Jessica Magillacutty and LeeAnne Michelle, both of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Rebecca Jenkins, Seth Wolf and Taylor Wolf, all of Union Bridge; a sister, Marilyn Wolf Carroll and husband, Dr. Charles Carroll of Concord, NC; and his best buddy, his dog Wesson. He was predeceased by an infant son, John Wesley Wolf; sister, Diane Wolf Forgrave; and brother, Hobart D. Wolf Jr. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Friday, November 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Military interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Union Bridge.
