John LaMar Beam, 88, of Reisterstown passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center. Born on September 29, 1927, in Red Run, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Marcella (Slabach) Beam. John was married to his loving wife, Doris M. (Sheppard) Beam, for 62 years. He was a graduate of Lehigh University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in addition to a Juris Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Baltimore. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a contract administrator for the Department of the Navy in Crystal City, Virginia. He was an active member of the Westminster United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Senior Singers of Westminster. John enjoyed singing and in his younger years he enjoyed bowling and playing tennis. He was an avid football fan, especially of the Baltimore Colts and Ravens. Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Scott A. and Cathy Beam of Reisterstown; brother and sister-in-law Richard C. and Dorothy Beam of Millersville, PA; grandson Cory Beam of Reisterstown; granddaughter Ashley Tvardzik and husband Andrew and great-granddaughter Carly F. Tvardzik all of Woodbine. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other family members. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at PRITTS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E Main St., Westminster where the family will receive friends from 10 am until the start of the service. Rev. Shari McCourt will be officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in his memory, to the Westminster United Methodist Church at the address above. Online condolences may be offered at
