John L. Napp, 92, of Eldersburg, died Saturday January 20, at home after a brief illness. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late James and Jennie (nee Cuda) Napolitano. He was a veteran of WWII and distinguished educator of 27 years for the Baltimore City School system. After retirement he authored and co-authored History and Geography textbooks that are still in use today. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Elaine (nee Carpenter), four sons: John C (Eldersburg), Philip Napolitano (Mt. Airy), Stephen (Phoenix, MD) and Keith (Van Nuys, CA), five grandchildren and a great-grandson. His first wife of 53 years, Dolores J. (nee Bonacci), passed away in 2005. A service of remembrance is scheduled at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldersburg for Friday, February 2 at 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 AM at St Joseph's Catholic Church 915 Liberty Rd. in Sykesville, MD. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to www.donorschoose.org/teachers.
