John Mark Rousey, age 48 of Coventry, CT, and formerly of Sykesville, died Thursday, May 14, 2015. Born September 8, 1966 in Belleville, IL, he was the son of Ruth Ann Atteberry Rousey of Sykesville, and the late Rev. James Lloyd Rousey. He had been a musician and drywall finisher. John's passion was music. He played blues on the harmonica and wrote music. His band, One Eyed Johnny and The Gravediggers is recent, having began in the past year. They have begun to achieve a lot of notice in the Hartford, CT area and play mostly blues. Many of the songs performed are John's original lyrics. They played the Sykesville Wine Festival held recently. Surviving in addition to his mother are brother Jim Rousey and his companion Kathy Bainbridge of Sykesville, devoted companion Ali Blair of Connecticut, and niece and nephews Matthew Kushel and his wife Melissa, Patrick Rousey, Justin Rousey, Megan Farrell and her husband Ian, and Connor Rousey. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
