John Philip Bosley, 60, of Westminster, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at home.

Born July 14, 1953, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Walter and Dorothy Bosley. He was the husband of Marla Vacek Bosley, his wife of 23 years.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in psychology from Towson University. He was a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor. His professional career spanned 40 years and included work at XCELL Residential Drug and Treatment Program, the Hannah More Center and the First Step Youth Service Bureau.

The majority of his career was spent helping individuals at Junction Inc., an outpatient drug and alcohol abuse program, where he served as clinical director. He coordinated the student assistance programs in Carroll County middle and high schools, supervised counselors and was the Junction representative on the Local Coordinating Council. He was instrumental in obtaining grant funding to add psychiatric services for the clients at Junction Inc. His hobbies included photography, astronomy, chess, bird watching and collecting sports memorabilia.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Alex and Matthew Bosley, both of Westminster; a brother; a sister; many nieces and nephews; and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
