John Patrick Landon, 81, of Eldersburg, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born March 17, 1931, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Mary M. Boyd Landon. He was the husband of the late Genevieve Elaine Landon.

He worked as a warehouse manager for the former A&P foods. He was a veteran of the Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 223 in Sykesville. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law Glenn and Teresa Landon, of Arbutus, and Michael Landon, of Baltimore; daughters Maureen Sweeney of Joppatown, and Lynne Schwartz and husband Michael, of Eldersburg; a daughter-in-law, Karen Sweeny-Jett, of Sykesville; a brother, Albert Landon, of Rhode Island; a sister, Mary Douglas, of Jarrettsville; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Shawn Sweeney; a brother, James Landon; and a sister, Dorothy Critzman.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until the time of service, 6 p.m. Wednesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be at a later date at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Legion Post No. 223, 7327 Slacks Road, Sykesville, MD 21784; or to Disabled Veterans of Maryland.
