John Robert "Bobby" Baumgardner, age 68, of Westminster, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was born January 2, 1948 in Washington County, Virginia, son of the late John M. Baumgardner who died in 1987 and Florence Irene (Lewis) Baumgardner who died on April 16, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen F. (Close) Baumgardner. Bobby worked as a sign crew foreman for the MD State Highway Administration, and retired as a custodian with the Carroll County Public Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and drawing. Surviving are daughter, Marleen Gawel and husband Neal of Westminster; son, Bobby Baumgardner and wife Tracey of Westminster; grandchildren, Brady Brown and husband Chris, Logan Baumgardner, and Makenzie Gawel; siblings, Shirley Bauerlien of Taneytown, Grace Keeney and husband George of New Windsor, Ray Baumgardner and wife Bertha of Westminster, Phyllis Warner and husband Mike of New Windsor, Shannon Baumgardner of Westminster, Lonnie Baumgardner and wife Wanetta of New Windsor, and Billy Baumgardner and Linda Rollison, both of Westminster; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Delmar and David Baumgardner. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, 21157, with Pastor Frank Warner officiating. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help defray funeral expenses may be made to the funeral home at the above address.
