John S. Vizzini, age 83 of Westminster, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born May 30, 1931 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Marie C. (Murphy) Vizzini. He was the husband of 62 years of Elizabeth Marie Vizzini. John was a veteran of the Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Community for over 40 years and St. John Catholic Church for the last several years. He was a previous member of the Moose Lodge in Westminster and the VFW in Reisterstown. John graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School where he played on the ice hockey team. He enjoyed a variety of entertainment through trips with Westminster Ridge. His lucky number throughout his life was his debit # as a successful insurance man, # 143. He was known by many as a character and called "coupon John". Everyone enjoyed his company and you never wanted to miss a story told by John. He loved to dance, especially with his best dance partner, his wife "Liz" who was the love of his life. He loved spending time with his family and friends and never gave up an opportunity to brag about his children and grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Marie E. Ritgert and husband Michael of Mt. Airy, Dr. Joanne F. Vizzini of Columbia, Theresa C. Melville and husband Scott of Hampstead and Mary B. Albert and husband James of Sykesville; sister Marie Limpert of Catonsville; grandchildren Alicia, Stephanie, Derek, Amber, Samantha, Alex, Monica, Adam, Daniel and Elena and great grandchild Luke. He was predeceased by brothers Salvatore, William and Francis Vizzini. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-9pm and Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, 10:30am, at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg. Interment Lake View Memorial Park.
