John Samuel Smith, 94, of Westminster, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Longview Nursing Home. John was born on May 30, 1923 in Baltimore and was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Curley Smith, Sr. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Margaret Elizabeth Seitler Smith, who predeceased him in 2013. John was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a machinist for Black and Decker until his retirement. He enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, walking, and listening to music. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Mary Frances Smith, siblings Mgsr. Alfred E. Smith, Frieda McEney, William Smith, Charles Smith, Jr., Eugene Smith, Richard Smith, and James Smith. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will be held in Druid Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster MD 21157. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.prittsfuneralhome.com
