John Thomas Daily, Jr., 72, passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2017, at Morningside House in Ellicott City, MD. Surrounded by his three children, he succombed to Parkinson's Disease after a long and brave battle. Born in Baltimore, MD, on January 23rd, 1945, to the late Charlotte Cecilia Quinn and John Thomas Daily, Sr., he grew up in Manchester, MD, and graduated from North Carroll High School in 1963. He attended Western Maryland College (today known as McDaniel College) in Westminster, MD, as an ROTC student, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1967. He later completed a Master of Administrative Science with the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, in 1977. Upon graduation from college, John was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery, where he served on active duty until 1970, including thirteen months as Tactical Director at the ADA Command Post in Inchon, Korea. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1969. Following an honorable discharge, John took a position in Information Systems with Fidelity & Deposit, in Baltimore, MD, thus beginning his 40-year career in IT and Project Management Consulting. He worked for a number of companies in the Baltimore-Washington area, including Martin Marietta, Pfizer, Westinghouse, Perot Systems, and Computer Science Corporation. He was also instrumental in holding the Millenium bug at bay in Y2K. Throughout his life, John enjoyed sports (horseback riding, soccer, track & field, skiing, karate), reading, coin collecting and amateur photography. But above all, he loved spending time with his family. John will be remembered for his love and devotion to family and friends, his warm smile and his playful sense of humor. He is survived by daughter, Megan Daily and husband Thomas Flamant of Beaune, France; daughter, Jennifer Young and husband David (Jr.) of Westminster, MD; son, David Daily and wife Julie of Silver Spring, MD; sister, Susan Krysowaty and husband Paul of Crownsville, MD; grandsons, Cayden and Sawyer Young; and his nieces, nephews and other relatives. The Daily family is thankful to the staff of Morningside House of Ellicott City, in particular the staff of Memory Lane, and also to the staff of Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care and support. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 22nd, 2017, at 10:30 am, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E. Padonia Rd., Timonium, MD, 21093.
