John Upton Warner Jr., 65, of Taneytown, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at home.

Born Feb. 14, 1947, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Upton Sr. and Sylvia Loretta Tillman Warner. He was the husband of Rebecca Ruth Snyder Warner, his wife of 40 years.

He was a 1965 graduate of Franklin High School in Reisterstown. He was a heavy-equipment/diesel mechanic and worked 25 years for Thomas, Bennett & Hunter Construction in Westminster. He was a veteran of the Navy and served on the U.S.S. O'Hare.

He was a member of American Legion Post 297 in Baltimore. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons James and Carl Warner, both of Taneytown; sisters Limia Jo May and husband Ralph, of West Virginia, and Diana Fay Snyder, of Reisterstown; brother Harold Warner and wife Pat, of Owings Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Elaine Warner.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery.
