John Winand Corbett, 87, of Westminster, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Sinai Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1925, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Marie C. Clunk and John W. Corbett Sr. He was the husband of Helen Georg Corbett.

Before retiring he worked as a purchasing manager and paving contractor. He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467 and American Legion Carroll Post No. 31.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a sister, Mary P. Schuster, of Point of Rocks; a niece, Susan Sterling, of Texas; and a nephew, Timothy Schuster, of Pennsylvania; and friends George and Ruth Ann Brown, of Westminster, and Deb Clarke, of Hanover, Pa.

He was predeceased by a nephew, John W. Schuster.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with the Rev. Lawrence A. Adamczyk officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
