John William Rock Sr., 52, of Taneytown, died unexpectedly Monday, July 15, 2013, in Taneytown.

Born April 10, 1961, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Benjamin and Gladys Lawver Rock, of Taneytown. He was the husband of the late Roxanne Hann Rock, his wife of 25 years.

He was an assembly mechanic at Flowserve Corporation in Taneytown. He was previously employed at the Solo Cup Company in Reisterstown for more than 25 years.

He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was a Jeff Gordon fan. He was a collector of antique Tonka toys and pedal tractors. He enjoyed his family, and hunting and fishing with his son, John Jr.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are son John Rock Jr. and wife Ashley, of Hanover, Pa.; sisters Carol Kreit, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Barb Sanders and husband Rodney, of Keymar, and Margaret Keister, of Stanley, N.C.; brothers Donald Rock and wife Peg, Gene Rock and companion Bev Stanley, and Eddie Rock, all of Taneytown, Tim Rock, of Keymar, and Steve Rock and fiancee Kim Kreit, of Taneytown; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.

Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, 8201 Corporate Drive, Suite 1000, Landover, MD 20785.
