John W. Tedder, III, 70, of Abbottstown, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, August 3, 2017 at his home with family by his side. He was the husband of Joyce C. (Long) Tedder to whom he was married 30 years. Born October 3, 1946 in Baltimore, MD, he was th son of the late John W. and Gloria (Holbrook) Tedder. John retired from his masonry business, KMA Enterprises, and enjoyed his part-time employment with Lowes after retirement. John proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion, Hampstead, MD. and enjoyed the outdoors while fishing, mowing lawns and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children; Wesley Moser and wife Lori of Manchester, MD, Michael Tedder and wife Karen of Hampstead, MD and Kara Goff and husband Doug of Sykesville, MD, three step-children; Cathy Miller and companion Neil Smith of New Oxford, Terry Miller Jr. and wife Melissa of McSherrystown and Connie Stigler and husband Leon Jr. of Hanover, three siblings; Patsy and John Daniel of Talbott, TN, Nancy and Bobby Willis of Pensacola FL and Wayne and Brenda Tedder of Wilmington, NC, eight grandchildren; Tyler, Kendall, Marissa, Ian, Matthew, Sean, Derek and Kourtney, four step-grandchildren; Lauren, McKenzie, Casey and Isabella, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with his sister, Nancy Willis officiating and military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends will be received for a viewing on Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of John may be made to VNA Hospice, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
