John Warren Crosby, 76, of Finksburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born on July 16, 1940 in Govans, MD, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Florence M. Crosby. John was the husband of Margaret E. Crosby, his wife of 55 years. John worked at Commercial Credit, First National Bank, Western Auto, and Carroll Hospital Center. He sang with the Peabody Choir. John was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smallwood. John participated in many functions of the church including serving on the the Church Council, Property Committee, Dutch Picnic Committee, and Three Guys in the Dark production. John was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir for more than 30 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are nephew Troy Crosby of Morganton, NC; cousin Bonnie Hodski and husband Joe of Baltimore; and several great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by brother Kenneth Crosby on November 23, 1991. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 17 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 833 Deer Park Rd., Westminster, MD 21157 with Deacon Melissa Helfer officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157, the Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158, or to Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are provided by Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.
