Jon Larry Woodford, 72, of Sykesville, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Brinton Woods Nursing Home.

Born Aug. 4, 1940, in Philippy, W.Va., he was the son of the late Dr. James and Frankie Long Woodford. He was the husband of Karen M. Woodford, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 8.

He had retired after 30 years of service from the Anne Arundel Board of Education as a instrumental and music teacher. He was a member and musician of Freedom Masonic Lodge No. 112 A.F. & A.M., Belvedere R.A. Chapter No. 39, Carroll Council No. 7 R.& S.M., Bonnie Blink Daylight Lodge No. 1 and The Carroll Commandery No. 17 Knights Templar.

He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Julia Maggitti, Rebecca Smith and husband J.; a brother, Joseph Woodford; grandchildren Dale and Rose Dubourg, Alex Maggitti, Matthew, Caroline and Patrick Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Szarvas.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Internment will be in Wesley Freedom Cemetery.
