Joseph James Bach, 76, of Manchester, went home to heaven on Friday October 3, 2014 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born February 18, 1938 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Albert and Sarah (Murphy) Bach. He was the husband of Judy (Ogden) Bach, his wife of 56 years. Joe was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School and was employed by the State of Maryland DHMH as a program analyst manager for thirty years. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Hampstead Lions Club for 40 years where he was Past President, bulletin editor for 30 years, and a Melvin Jones recipient. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved traveling and Notre Dame football, but more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife, is son, Joseph M. Bach and wife Fran, daughters, Debbie Groft and husband Tom, Sharon Opdyke and husband Paul; granddaughters, Melissa Fisher and husband Chris, Megan Bach and fiance Murphy Luatua, Caitlin Bach, Sarah Bach; grandsons, Joseph Opdyke, Benjamin Opdyke; great grandson, Nathan Fisher. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Mary Mayr, Albert Bach and Ann Goolsby. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead, MD 21074. A Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 10:30 am at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, MD 21102 with Rev. Michael Roach, celebrant. Interment at St. Bartholomew Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bartholomew Mortgage Fund, P.O. Box 448, Manchester, MD 21102.
