Joseph Henry Kreimer, 72, of Union Bridge, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House, Westminster. Born August 23, 1942 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Benton "Buzz" and Bernice Owens Kreimer. He was the husband of Kathy Kreimer, with whom he recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Joe was a 1960 graduate of St. John's Catholic School, Westminster. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years on the nuclear submarine, U.S.S. Permit. He then worked for his father in Kreimer Construction, of which he became owner and retired in 2007. He and his wife also continued the operation of the family business, Esquire Liquors, Union Bridge. He was a long-time member of the planning commission for the Town of Union Bridge. He enjoyed playing poker with his close friends. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Jeff Kreimer and Karen of Westminster, Mike Kreimer and Carole of Walkersville; four grandchildren, Jason Kreimer and Ariel, Kristen Kreimer, Garrett and Blake Kreimer; great-grandson, Maddox Kreimer; sisters, Diane T. Yearsley and Earle, Bonnie C. Williams and John; brother-in-law, Ron Smith and Susan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Capt. Robert Kreimer, USN Retired, and an infant brother. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home. 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Sunday, June 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge, will officiate. Military interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood.
