Mr. Joseph Sosnowsky, 95, of Westminster, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. Born January 5, 1919 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late John and Mary Yaromy Sosnowsky. He was the husband of Bertha E. Koski Sosnowsky who died Wednesday, December 10. Mr. Sosnowsky served in the Army during World War II. He received his Associates Degree in electrical engineering from Penn State. He was formerly employed at Lehigh Portland Cement Co. in Allentown, PA and Union Bridge where he had been involved with the design work for the Union Bridge plant. After retirement in 1979 he and his wife often traveled and enjoyed participating in their son's jewelry business by selling his work at regional craft fairs and festivals. He was a member of American Legion Post #31 and the Four Seasons Health Club, both of Westminster. With his wife, he had been a 25-year member of local square dancing and round dancing clubs, Four-County Squares in Winfield and Rossmoor Rounds. He was an avid gardener and never lived anywhere that he didn't create a garden plot. He was a natural master at making things grow, indoors or out. Surviving are daughter, Geraldine Sosnowsky and husband Robert McEachern of Annapolis; two sons, Joseph E. Sosnowsky and wife Virginia of Ocean City, NJ and John M. Sosnowsky and wife Deborah of Woodsboro; five grandchildren, Gerri Weed, Katie Hardegan, Jeanne Peardon, Jessica Tomcsik and Corrie Sosnowsky and six great grandchildren, Andy and Becky Weed, Solomon and Meskele Hardegan and Sebastian and Lily Tomcsik; three sisters, Mary Neupauer of Fullerton, PA, Julia Haas of Easton, PA and Anne Kozo of Bethlehem, PA and a brother, Charles Sosnowsky of Binghamton, NY. He was predeceased by brothers, Steven and Michael Sosnowsky. The family will receive friends at Carroll Lutheran Village - Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, on Friday, December 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. where a Catholic funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. for Joe and Bertha. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Lutheran Village, Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158.
