Joseph William Tracey, 90, of New Oxford, PA, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Brethren Home Healthcare Center in New Oxford. Born January 29, 1926 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph William Tracey and Carrie Tracey, nee Smith. He was the husband of Mary Alice Tracey, nee Taylor. Mr. Tracey was a machinist and chief engineer with Surgical Engineering Company, designing and patenting the Collison Titanium Femoral Hip Prosthesis. He retired as a machinist for Western Electric and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former member of American Legion Post 200 and is named as a veteran on the War Memorial in Hampstead. Mr. Tracey was also an accomplished draftsman and carpenter, designing and building the family home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Joseph F. Tracey, Susan Naylor, William K. Tracey and Karen D. Tracey, and daughters: Nancy J. Hare and Rev. K. Todd Hare, Peggy S. England and Charles H. England, as well as 10 grandchildren and 7 great grand-children. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester (21102) where a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. K. Todd Hare officiating. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to: The Good Samaritan Fund, The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford PA 17331.
