Josephine Alice Derr, 91, of Walkersville, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at HeartFields Assisted Living.

Born Dec. 9, 1920, in Keymar, she was the daughter of the late William Nathan and Ida Amanda Garber Blume. She was the wife of Raymond E. Pettingall.

She was the owner and operator of Glade Valley Beauty Shop for 30 years in Walkersville. She also drove a school bus for the Rock Creek Center for four years.

She was a member of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps for three years during World War II. She was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walkersville and a member of Glen L. Eyler Woodsboro American Legion, Post 282.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children Donna D. Warner and husband Frank, of Thurmont; William E. Derr and wife Barbara, of Harpers Ferry, W. Va.; J. Scott Derr, of Greencastle, Pa.; and Roberta D. Leaverton and husband Bruce, of Cordova; step-children Patricia A. Pettingall, of Frederick; Carol L. O'Brien, of Myersville; and D. Darlene Sisk and husband Micah, of Frederick; eight grandchildren, two step- grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband Donald L. Derr and her brother Melvin Blume.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Walkersville with the Rev. Foucart officiating.

Interment will be private.
