Joyce Ann Germack, age 84, of Westminster, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. Born March 14, 1932 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Ross J. and Naomi E. Evans Zimmerman. She was the wife of James Milton Germack, her husband of 61 years. Mrs. Germack was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glyndon. She was a former member of the Women's Homemakers Club of Glyndon. She was selected as Miss Baltimore in 1950 and also Miss Press Photographer. Joyce sang in several light operas in Baltimore, played the piano, wrote music and poetry, created artwork, taught dance at Arthur Murray's Dance Studio and participated in the Baltimore Flower Mart. She had the honor of singing for President Harry Truman and his daughter Margaret at the White House. In addition to her husband she is survived by children, Susan P. Smith of Westminster and James M. Germack Jr. of Colorado; 2 grandsons and 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, 7-9 p.m. Monday, October 3. A graveside service will be held at Garrison Forest Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Rd., Owings Mills, at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 4.
