Mrs. Joyce I. Wilhide, 74, of Keymar, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her home after a four-month battle with cancer. Born November 28, 1941 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Donald W. Lescalleet and Lucille G. Eyler Pheabus. She was the wife of Myron L. Wilhide, her devoted husband of 55 years. Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge. She was a longtime Sunday school teacher and was involved in church activities while attending Keysville Lutheran Church. She was a bookkeeper for the family farm, Key-De-Blue Farm. Joyce served for many years as secretary of the Union Bridge High School Alumni Association. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word and was meticulous in gardening, canning, cleaning and was dedicated to providing Sunday suppers for the family for 30 years. During her mother's final years she devoted herself to caregiving. Her love for her grandchildren demonstrated that she was their biggest fan. In addition to her husband she is survived by 2 daughters, Denise L. Carmack and husband James A. of Keymar and S. Renée Lease and husband David V. of Union Bridge; 5 grandchildren, Kevin J. Carmack and wife Kendra, Darin M. Lease and wife Kelly, Kelly L. Carmack, Derek V. Lease and Brendan S. Lease; a great granddaughter, Cora D. Carmack; 2 sisters, Betty J. Garber of Taneytown and Sharon A. Hotchkiss and husband Ed of Union Bridge; a brother, Carl T. "Bud" Lescalleet and wife Nancy, near Westminster and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Allen L. Lescalleet and William E. Lescalleet. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 18, at the Uniontown Bible Church, 4272 Watson's Lane, Union Bridge, with Rev. David Dent, pastor of Mid Atlantic Community Church, Gambrills and Pastor Bill Rumbaugh of New Hope Fellowship Church, Westminster, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Keysville. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 17 and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
