Judith Ann "Judy" Garland, 29, of Taneytown, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Shock Trauma after being struck by a car.

Born March 9, 1983, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Mary Ann Garland Reed, of Taneytown, and the late Richard Earl Garland Sr.

She was a graduate of the New Life for Girls Ministry, where she enjoyed returning to visit her friends. She worked as a waitress and assistant manager for her mother at Mary Ann's Tea Room in Taneytown. She enjoyed reading urban street books as well as many other novels. She devoted her time to her family and friends, and was known for giving prayers at family gatherings and dinner time.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are children Cassidy Caldwell, of Taneytown, Thomas Devilbiss, of Florida, Phillip Zion Garland and Paul Knauer, of Ellicott City; brothers Richard E. Garland Jr. and girlfriend Kayta Gonzalez, and Rotha Andrew "Rocky" Garland, of Taneytown; aunt Mary "Mo" Walker; her mother's fiance, Russ Arenz II; nieces Natalie and Brooklyn Garland, and La'Shay Gonzalez; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a grandmother, Barbara and husband Anthony Dailey.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service, 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Edwin T. Matos officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home home to help defray funeral expenses.
