Julia Jean King, 56, of Finksburg, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Dove House in Westminster, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Born March 15, 1956, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Stanley-Louis and Isabele Bryan Hack. She was the wife of Jerry E. King.

She was raised in Fort Lauderdale, where she became a registered nurse. She moved to Tallahassee, Fla., where she raised her children. She then met her husband and moved to Maryland to be with him. In Maryland she worked at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.

She was an author, past president of the Maryland Chapter of the Intravenous Nurses Society and avid pet lover, in particular her cat, Tigger.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son and daughter Robert Steele, and Andrea Taylor and husband Adam; a stepson, Justin King; siblings Bryan Hack and Lorraine Willard; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Peggy Ayers, Kathy King and husband Guy Bailey, and Glenn King and wife Sharon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, noon Thursday, Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at Sinai Hospital, 2401 W. Belvedere Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215; or Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
