June S. Stremmel, 73, of Spring Grove, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the York Hospital with her loving husband and family by her side. Born June 18, 1942 in Boring, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elisha J. and Emma J. (Steger) Grothe. June was the loving wife of Clyde R. Stremmel with whom she shared 52 ½ years of marriage. June attended Black Rock Church of the Brethren, Glenville, PA., where she enjoyed to teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Club, Windy Hill Senior Center, and the Hanover Home Association. Mrs. Stremmel was a cashier in the 60's, was the owner and operator of the Brick Oven Restaurant on Baltimore Street in Hanover during the 70's, she ran the cafeteria at Black & Decker in Hampstead, MD in the 80's and worked in Sales for Hahn's Meats in Manchester, MD in the late 80's early 90's. June was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family whenever she could. In addition to her husband Clyde, June is survived by three children, Jeff C. Stremmel of Hanover, PA, Diana "Dee" S. Stremmel and husband Eric J. Bortner of Hanover, PA, Matthew R. Stremmel of Orangeburg, SC, one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Stremmel of Hanover, PA, five grandchildren, Michael Stremmel, Jennifer Stremmel, Brandon Stremmel, Mackenzie Bortner and Madison Bortner, three brothers, Elisha "Bud" Grothe, Joseph Grothe, and John Grothe, four sisters, Lottie McDonald, Hazel Liff, Leona Rohrbaugh, and Beatrice L. Thomas. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar Grothe, Charles H. Grothe, and Donald Grothe, and three sisters, Betty Grothe, Anna Brodbeck, and Mary King. Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember June's life will be held 2 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, PA, with her Pastor the Rev. David W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Black Rock Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Glenville, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1 -3 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. Memorial contributions in memory of June may be made to the Windy Hill Senior Center, 1472 Roth's Church Road #103, Spring Grove, PA 17362 or Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, PA 17329. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
