Junella Diane Spencer, 59, of Westminster, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at home.

Born Dec. 19, 1952, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Carl Lee and Anna Marie Rahnis Mathis.

She was a 1970 graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Essex. She was a program specialist/executive assistant for Human Services Programs of Carroll County.

She enjoyed volunteering at The Shepherd's Staff and for dinners for the homeless at St. John Catholic Church, where she was an active member. She taught religious education to second graders at St. John School and had been a treasurer for the Cub Scout pack her sons had belonged to in earlier years.

Surviving are sons James E. and Scott M. Spencer, both of Westminster; siblings Lorraine Blanche, Carl Jr., Johnny, Joseph, Donald, William and  Michael Mathis, Barbara Lang and Anna Kowaleski; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers James and Robert Mathis.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral Mass will be held at noon Friday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Monsignor Martin Feild officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hills Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses may be sent to Pritts Funeral Home, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
