Kate Elizabeth McAfee, 16, of Sykesville, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Born Aug. 9, 1995, in Fort Riley, Kan., she was the daughter of Andrew William McAfee, of Marriottsville, and Joann Denise Evans McAfee, of Sykesville.
She had attended Liberty High School in Eldersburg where she actively participated in the Drama Club and enjoyed being in all of the school plays. She was an avid fan of the Jonas Brothers, and she enjoyed horseback riding and her horse, Scarlett. She was known for her sense of humor.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are grandparents Bonnie and Stuart Evans, of Wilson, N.C., and Patricia McAfee, of New Jersey; aunts and uncles Janet and Dan Argiro, Scott Evans, Helen and Richie Blackmore, Dan and Grace McAfee, Claire McAfee, Paul McAfee, Laura McAfee, Brenda and Aladdin McAfee, and Robin McAfee; cousins Alex and Evan Argiro, Richie and John Blackmore, Laurabelle and Gabrielle McAfee-Shabn, Jessika McAfee, and Kyle and Christopher Haas.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
