Katherine "Katie Mac" Michelle McCarthy, 30, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

Born Dec. 22, 1982, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Patrick Allen McCarthy Sr. and Kathy Sue Waesche Henninger. She was the stepdaughter of Roni Lynn McCarthy and David Henninger.

She was a 2001 graduate of Franklin High School, attended Johnson Bible College from 2007 to 2009 and was a month away from graduating from South College with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are brothers Patrick A. McCarthy II and Shane M. McCarthy; stepsisters Jessie Ridgely, Julie Desmarais, Lisa Cox and Amy Busick; grandparents Charles and Betty Waesche, of Ocean Pines; stepgrandparents Ron and Suzanne Jones, of Parsonsburg, and Tom and Carolyn Collier, of Westminster; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church. 

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the Northwest Baptist Church, 300 Westminster Road, Reisterstown 21136, with the Rev. Gary Glanville officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, is handling funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to South College School of Nursing Sunflower Scholarship Fund in honor of 'Katie Mac' McCarthy, 3904 Lonas Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909.
