Kenneth F. Goodman, 65, of Columbia, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, following a battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 7, 1948, in Cresson, Pa., he was the son of the late Kenneth Eugene and Grace Traino Goodman. He was the husband of Marta Goodman.

He was a 1966 graduate of St. Johns High School in Westminster and a 1971 graduate of the University of Baltimore, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He passed his certified public accountant certification shortly thereafter. He was a 1993 graduate of the University of Maryland Law School, magna cum laude, and was admitted to the bar shortly after graduation.

He retired in January after 39 years of federal service with various agencies, including Social Security and the United States Agency for International Development. Most recently, he was an attorney advisor for the Division of Hearings and Decisions; Office of Hearings, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

In addition to his work, he enjoyed watching his daughter's recreation and high school sports. He was also a dedicated weightlifter, as well as an 8th degree black belt instructor.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Marielle Goodman; brothers Gregg and wife Nanette Goodman, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Scott and wife Mimi Goodman, of Columbia; a brother-in-law, Jay Rodriguez, of Gallup, N.M.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Witzke Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
