Kenneth Leon Rhoten Sr., 57, of Parkton, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson.

Born Jan. 29, 1957, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Milton and Rose Ruby Rhoten. He was the former husband of Shirley Mays, of Parkton.

He was a 1976 graduate of Hereford High School. He was the owner and operator of Rhoten Trucking.

He was a member of Maryland Historical Steamshow Society. He enjoyed working, tractors and farming.

Surviving, in addition to his former wife, are a daughter, Jeannie Ann DuBois, of Baltimore; a son, Kenneth L. Rhoten Jr., of Parkton; a stepson, Luther C. Wike Jr., of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Jaden DuBois, of Baltimore; and brothers Bruce Rhoten and Dennis Rhoten, both of Manchester.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ann Carver.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, during the evening visitation, with the Rev. Scott Dale Shumaker officiating. Inurnment will be in Mount Carmel United Methodist Cemetery at a later date, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031; or to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2533 Mt. Carmel Road, Parkton, MD 21120.
