Lewis Edward "Eddie" Hyde, 57, of New Windsor, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 15, 1955, in Frederick, he was the son of the late John Thomas Jr. and F. Catherine Haines Hyde. He was the husband of Jeanne D. Hyde, his wife of 31 years.

He was a 1974 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. He was employed for 34 years with EDCO in  Frederick, and considered his co-workers as part of his family. He enjoyed life on his farm, animals, fishing in Chincoteague, and having fun with the guys on the farm. He especially enjoyed his dog, Sadie.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sisters Linda L. Gott and husband Warren, of Benedict, Nancy L. Shifler and Bonnie M. Hyde, both of Union Bridge; brother, J. Thomas Hyde III and wife Pam, of Union Bridge; a cousin, Nan Hyde; mother-in-law and father-in-law Peggy and Irvin Gordon, of Sykesville; sisters-in-law Charlotte Kohler and husband Richard, Debbie Wright and husband Nick, Judy Kowall and husband Jesse, Robin Gray and husband Earl; brothers-in-law Richard and Michael Gordon; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends Don and Nancy Bixler.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, where remembrances will be shared at 7:30 p.m. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
