LaRoy Woodrow Watson, 90, of Westminster, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born Aug. 30, 1922, in Westminster, he was the son of the late David D. and Ida Catherine Horning Watson. He was the husband of Mary Alice Zentz Watson, who died Jan. 10, 2010.

He served in the Army during World War II as a military policeman.

He retired from Westminster Knit in 1987 as a sewing machine mechanic. He also worked for Pleasant Valley Shoe and after retirement, at Carroll Gardens. He enjoyed fishing for catfish, camping in Chincoteague and being with his family and grandchildren. He also liked cooking and vegetable gardening.

Surviving are children Gary Watson and wife Chris, of Union Bridge, and Sterling Watson and Nancy Watson, both of Westminster; brothers Francis Watson, of Union Bridge, and Clarence Watson, of Westminster; a sister, Edna Warrenfeltz, of Westminster; grandchildren Heather Parkhurst, Barbara Cordwell, David Bozcek Jr., Stephanie Watson, Brandon Watson, Sarah Norman, and Katheryn and James Gripton; and great-grandchildren Tiffany and Isabelle Parkhurst, and Madyson Bozcek.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert Watson, in 1957; brothers David, James, John, Monroe, Richard, Charles and Sterling Watson; and sisters Elizabeth and Dorothy Watson, Mable Shaeffer, Ruth Sterner, Marie Lookingbill, and Ida and Gladys Carr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Deacon Charles Barnhart Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
