Larry Lester Caple, 79, of Westminster, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his home. Born on January 10, 1935 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Lester Zepp Caple and Virginia Ruth Slasman Caple. He was the husband of Donna Rickell Caple, his wife of 51 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Japan for two years. He enjoyed the work of driving tractor-trailers and retired from Hahn Transportation in 2007, where he had received many safe driving awards. He was a lifetime member of Sandy Mount United Methodist Church in Finksburg. He enjoyed cycling about Carroll County and also along the beaches of California, hiking, reading the daily news, watching his favorite TV show "The Price is Right", and he especially enjoyed attending school concerts, cross country meets, track events, and 4-H activities in which his grandchildren participated. His joy was being with his family and they being with him. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-laws Tammy and David Loy of Taneytown, Jennifer and William Fritzsche of Costa Mesa, CA, and Tonna and Michael Arbaugh of Westminster; grandchildren John, James, Molly, Helen, and Joseph Loy of Taneytown, Adam Fritzsche of Costa Mesa, CA, and Benjamin, Bradley, Brandon, and Madelyn Arbaugh of Westminster; brother Charles Rowland Caple and wife Doris Ann Holder Caple of Summerville, FL; and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by brother James Carroll Caple in 1962. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster and on Monday, 1 hour prior to the start of the funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg with Rev. Bob T. Wellman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
