Larry Ray Bixler, 62, of New Oxford, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at York Hospital.

Born Jan. 11, 1951, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of Frances Stocksdale Bixler, of Westminster and the late Robert L. Bixler Sr. He was the husband of Vivian Leister Bixler.

He worked as an explosives expert for Piedmont Explosives. He also had worked at Direct to You Gas Station.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are son Nathan Bixler, of New Oxford; a stepson, Jason Reese, of New Oxford; and a sister, Fay Bixler Downing, of Haines City, Fla.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lee Bixler Jr., who died in 1997.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Diane Summerhill, of Zion United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
